India's first specialised hospital for elephants opens in Mathura


Now, in a jumbo attempt to preserve elephants, Wildlife SOS has launched India's first and fully equipped hospital dedicated to elephants in collaboration with Uttar Pradesh Forest Department.

India’s first specialized hospital for elephants was formally opened in Churmura village in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh on 17th November. It has been established by Wildlife SOS   which had already promoted Elephant Conservation and Care Centre in 2010 .

The unique medical centre offers wireless digital X-ray, dental X-ray, laser treatment, thermal imaging, ultrasonography, hydrotherapy and quarantine . It is equipped with medical hoist for lifting elephants. It also has observation deck that allows veterinary students and interns to observe elephants’ behavior.
